We chose the name for one project of our Guild as Asatru Apothecary for a beacon towards authentic modes of European ancestral traditions. Our Gods are misappropriated in comic book movies, misunderstood by those who put a pagan veneer on Biblical theology, or by those that link them with their own biophobic darkness. The reality of the ancestral Gods is much more complex, much more dynamic and esoterically powerful. Those lacking true modes of initiation substitute with grandiose politics and a diseased worldview that validates their inability to transcend their personal conditions. The real alchemy is solitary, a personal rite of self to Self. Here we present a small monograph for those seeking the ancient herbal wisdom that was the magical and healing core of the Old Ways.

Many are awakening to their ancestral heritage while the world is teaching all to despise every vestige of history and Tradition. The result is an identity crisis, a profound schizophrenia where one must reconcile incompatible narratives and worldviews within. The truth is that Western culture is the triumph of the human spirit, of a long trajectory to the highest human potential and a numinous expression of the glorious possibilities of human existence. Our ancestors were folk of the mountains and forests, and the accumulated lore of medicinal and herbalism is a true heritage and inheritance. We craft this series of herbal lore to be a concise repository of ancestral herbs and old ways and to accumulate the validations of ancient wisdom through rigorous scientific method, study and trials. Folk wisdom on traditional uses are documented by doctors and universities in safe formulae used by the ancestors for 10,000 plus years in sacred herbal rites, especially amongst Indo-European cultures which enshrined this knowledge as the highest wisdom and sources of Mystery initiation.
